John Guidetti Leaves Celta Vigo

Former Manchester City striker departs after three seasons

Swedish international spent time on loan at Celtic before joining Celta in 2018

John Guidetti left Celta Vigo at the end of June after his contract expired, the La Liga club announced on Wednesday. The 30-year-old striker had been with Celta since 2018, having joined from Deportivo Alaves, and made 119 appearances for the club, scoring 31 goals.

Guidetti began his career with IF Brommapojkarna in Sweden before moving to Manchester City in 2008. He spent time on loan at Burnley, Feyenoord and Stoke before joining Celtic on loan in 2014. The Swedish international scored 55 goals in 114 appearances for the Scottish club, helping them win two league titles and two Scottish Cups.

Guidetti has been capped 28 times by Sweden and was part of their squad at the 2018 World Cup. He has also represented his country at the Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 levels.

It is not yet known where Guidetti will play next season. He has been linked with a move to several clubs in Europe, including AIK, FC Copenhagen and FC Twente.
