On January 20, 2021, Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States. As president, Biden has the authority to nominate members of his cabinet, which includes the heads of the 15 executive departments and the Vice President.

Notable appointments include Vice President Kamala Harris, the first woman and first person of color to hold that office; Janet Yellen, the first woman Treasury secretary; and Deb Haaland, the first Native American woman to lead a cabinet department (Interior).
